Thangalaan Movie Reviews
Critics and audiences have not exactly been wild about Thangalaan. The movie has received praise for its one-of-a-kind plot and message, which some have seen as incredibly powerful and equally powerful from the cast. While others have disgruntled the movie’s pacing, direction, and in resonance with the director’s voice (Pa. Ranjith). The movie is rated 6.8 from 10 on IMDb by the users. Ranjith delivers a hard-hitting message, but I don’t feel it resonates with the medium used.
Thangalaan Movie on Netflix
Thangalaan isn’t available to watch on Netflix as of now. But like most people, you have seen it, but I am led to believe that it is about to be released on a platform (or a number of them) in the near future. If you are a film fan and would like to watch it on stream, then you can always keep an eye on Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar, and ZEE5, which tend to release new films and shows.
Is Thangalaan Good?
And whether Thangalaan is good or not is of a personal opinion. Director Rob Reiner's movie isn't bad, but it's not great. Some audiences responded to it better than others. Some have written that the movie has a one-of-a-kind storyline, a solid message, and that the pieces were great with the cast. Some have attacked the movie for its pacing, lack of development, and failing to exhibit the voice of the director.
Overall, Thangalaan is a must-see for the message it is giving, the performances it has brought in, and most importantly, the storyline that's unheard of! But moviegoers will want to be patient with the film's pacing and direction -- it won't be to everyone's liking. Finally, if you watch Thangalaan, you will find the movie very powerful in its message, works nicely with a strong cast, and has a story of its own.
It deals with the ideas of colonialism, oppression, and not to mention struggle for culture and freedom and rightly so, cine maestro produces films of character and rightly so, for the purpose of promoting the need for collective action against oppressors and the requirement of keeping the culture of culture afloat and alive. Mixed reviews bring the movie, but a must-watch for the fans of epic dramas and historical adventure. When the movie is released online on any streaming platforms, the audience can watch it and tell it in their own words.
