Game of Thrones aired from 2011 to 2019 and lasted eight seasons. The show is about one family, the last of the seven royal families in the kingdom of seven kingdoms, which makes a man the king of every kingdom on this continent called Westeros. From a large cast of characters each with their own story arcs to live out, to politics, power and survival in a world of magic, dragons, and mythical creatures (that is wrote almost complete before we sold the franchise), this was the show that it was.

Game of Thrones isn’t so much a show about people, it’s a show about power, and loyalty, the human condition. Yet on his death an ugly struggle for the crown arises, Lord Stark, Lord Lannister, Lord Baratheon, Lord Targaryen all hungry for the gold.

Alliances are made, and broken, characters are born and die, Westeros' very fate is on the line: it is the story of the series. Show’s extensive characters, remarkable plot changes, and sudden turns are, in contrast, sufficiently intriguing and enthralling so that the viewers are put into the edge of a chair.

Still, some fans and critics have been less than impressed with the final season, with 1 feel that some plot points were not quite so well handled. In spite of this Game of Thrones has become one of the most well rated and favorite television shows of all time and for many people it's a 'must watch' show for fans of drama and fantasy series.

Game of Thrones on Netflix

Unfortunately, Game of Thrones isn’t on Netflix. HBO original series, the show is only available on HBO’s streaming platforms, like HBO Max (or in select countries, or the HBO go premium cable app). While fans cannot purchase any general singles these days, they can still grab season and individual episodes elsewhere, such as on Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, and iTunes.

There are 8 seasons in the Game of Thrones, and each season has its character play and arc development. The seasons are as follows:

Season 1: Comprising 10 episodes (April 17, 2011 - June 19, 2011) — Introduces the main characters and setting, and the death of the previous Hand of the King is an event which starts the ball rolling for the rest of the series.

Season 2: Comprising 10 Episodes (April 1, 2012– June 3, 2012) — Begins the War of the Five Kings and with White Walkers threatening Westeros.

Season 3: Comprising (10 episodes, March 31, 2013 - June 9, 2013): — Contains the infamous Red Wedding, a major moment on the show that sets in motion a change in the story.

Season 4: Comprising 10 episodes (April 6, 2014 - June 15, 2014) — Sees the continuation of the War of the Five Kings, with the Hound and Arya’s journey making a highlight of the season.

Season 5: Comprising 10 episodes (April 12, 2015 - June 14, 2015) — the Faith Militant grows, Jon Snow is confronted, and new characters and plot twists are introduced.

Season 6: Comprising 10 episodes (April 24, 2016 - June 26, 2016) — Features the Battle of the Bastards, the series’ most epic battle, and the revelation of Jon Snow’s true parentage.

Is Game of Thrones Good?

So, is Game of Thrones good? Yes, the answer is a resounding yes. The fantasy and drama genre fans definitely should not miss Game of Thrones with the depth of its storyline, creates a trio of complex characters, as well as the stunning production value. While some fans and critics were unhappy about how the final season played out, it truly does defy denying that the show the had such a big effect on culture and television industry.
